Bon Voyage

Our shuttle drivers this year, Jennifer and Isaac. They pitched in and helped us to unload and move most of the kayaks and equipment from the parking lot to the staging area. Without their help this trip would be a lot more challenging.

The daily meals are planned out ahead in advance and all the ingredients necessary for each meal is packed in a single ziplock bag. The groceries are distributed between each kayak. The grocery bags are marked with the person whose kayak it will end up in. Generally the front hatch of each kayak is reserved for food. When you pack your kayak, try to place the heaviest pieces and bags as close to the cockpit as possible. Having a center of gravity at the ends of the kayak will make it more unstable and more likely to capsize.

Each year Kevin packs a lunch so we don't have to stop and buy lunch. The goal is to get on the water as quick as possible. Lee took the opportunity to serenade us with a farewell song.

The start was in the low forty's and foggy.
